Adopt A Gift In Action

ADOPT A GIFT
(RUMAH CHARIS)

“Adopt a Gift” is a charity event organised by MMUCS (Multimedia University Christian Society), Cyberjaya, to reach out and touch the lives of orphans. Students of MMU are given the opportunity to “adopt” a gift to be given to a child of their choice. On the 6th of December 2008, 14 students from MMU Cyberjaya paid a visit to the orphanage division of Rumah Charis – one of the two orphanages chosen for this event.

Starting the day with a prayer, the team left Cyberjaya at 9:00 am. Upon reaching Rumah Charis, we were acquainted with the children before starting off with a few songs in which the children joined in. After the songs, we played a few games with the children, and later spent time getting to know the children better.

Most of the children were responsive and participated actively. We later presented the gifts (consisting of shampoo, face towel, and book wrapper, among others) to them; they looked happy upon receiving the gifts. When it was time for the children to have lunch, the team helped out in a number of house chores by sweeping and mopping the floor, cutting the grass, as well as washing the van.

When we were done, we thanked the management for hosting us and bid farewell to the children with hopes that we had at least touched some of their lives and made them happy.

ADOPT A GIFT
(RUMAH TRINITY)

My Bible tells me that Jesus loves children and today, I understand why, because those kids were full of life, good spirit, energy, boldness, eagerness and all those characters that make up a good Christ like person; they were just the sweetest little people one could want to hang around. It was great the way they just interacted with us, none were afraid or shy , they just openly received us as their brothers and sisters , excitement was surely on their faces as we arrived .

Game time was the moment of truth as we were getting to know them a bit better and it was meaningful and worth it , apart from the excitement , the football was great , we came out tired and sweaty , but had a lot of fun the boys were so energetic we couldn’t keep up with them.

The sacrifice made by the CF team for the children was a very good example and encouragement for us and for the kids as well the gifts , computers ,games , the time , resources, were so appreciated by the parents /guardians

And I'm glad that I was part of the team and believe it’s just the beginning, the tip of the iceberg, to love children and even the poor, those that are in need. Christmas is a time of remembering the birth of our Lord J.C. Remembering why He came to this earth, so save us to help the poor, the orphans, the widows and I believe this is the start of a greater calling of caring for these people.

I pray that the great job that was done, would not just end here but will continue on and on. The lives of the kids were touched, knowing that there are people out there who cares is such a great relief and gives peace to the soul and mind despite the situation they are in, most importantly we should pray for those kids to come to the place in their lives that they may come to know the Lord J.C as their Lord and saviour so that they may experience the Joy and the Love He came to give.

I believe the parents also have a great appreciation to what we are doing for the kids and for the home, it was great the way there just played along with us and the kids, shows that they really have the heart for these kids and they should also be examples to us .

Many many many blessing to them as they take good care of these kids and guide them to the righteous ways of God. And all in all the trip was a great success, the transport and preparations were good, no distractions or troubles. I believe its because there was a good coverage from God because of the prayers and that we choose to take Him along and not do things by ourselves.

We concluded with a great lunch and everyone was on their way home .
