Recap :God Of Pain

God Himself feels pain and grief. Reflecting on Jesus’ journey to the cross we have to come face to face to His pain and agony. For the women who followed Him, who were so grief stricken, He turned to them in kindness and compassion addressing their faith. For example, when on the cross, he entrusted His mother to his disciple John. When Jesus rose again, to His disciples who were confuse afraid and even in denial of Him, Jesus did not condemn them. For example, He let Thomas feel His scars to cure his unbelief. We must always remember that Jesus was both fully Man & God. He indeed felt a lot of pain, when His people did not believe Him, when he was also tempted in the garden and when Jesus was on the cross, dying for our sins. But even in all this, He was free to do what God set for him. Jesus did not hide His pain and agony from God, but He still wanted to do His Father’s will. Jesus trusted the Father regardless of His own circumstances and because of that he had freedom to finish His work to grant us forgiveness and restore our relationship with God through the cross. We must always remember during our midst of pain, He cares for us and even feels our pain. Now God did not make us weak to show Himself strong. It is because of our very own weaknesses, and because we allow God’s grace in our lives, we are able to go through trials and we are strong because of our heavenly Father. Finally a little something we could learn from Jabez whose name meant pain. Jabez did not let himself to be tied down to pain. Instead he sought God to change Him, and this is something we all must do in times of pain and trials. We must also be there for our brothers and sisters during their time of trials and pray for them that they would be able to experience God’s grace as they go through tough times for this was the example set by our Lord Jesus Christ, that even in His pain and agony His heart was always for His people and to always do the Father’s will. You may download the sermon slides as well as the recording below.
